Using the MailChimp Integration

This article explains how to use your MailChimp integration.

Overview


The MailChimp Partner module synchronises contact data with MailChimp. It works in the following way:

  • It searches for contacts with email addresses that have been subscribed in Cin7.
  • Checks to see if these email addresses exist in the specified MailChimp list.
  • If the email address does not exist on the list, adds a new contact to this list.
  • Unsubscribes in Cin7 any contacts that have unsubscribed in MailChimp since the last update.

For the integration to work the contact must have an email address assigned to them.

Subscribing Contacts through Cin7


There are two ways to subscribe contacts to a mailing list using Cin7. Using the POS, and using the MailChimp Partner List.

Using the POS

Upon checkout, it is possible to subscribe the customer to your specified mailing list.

POS Configuration

To use this feature you must first make a change in the PoS General Settings by setting "Close the print dialogue after printing" to No

To subscribe a POS customer to a list:

  1. Make a sale in the POS as usual.
  2. If the POS has been configured correctly, after payment has been processed you will be taken to a screen that will provide the option to either print the receipt or email the receipt.
  3. Enter the email address in the Email field, fill out the First Name field and, if the customer agrees, check Join Newsletter
  4. Click Email.
    The customer will be emailed a receipt and they will be subscribed to the mailing list when Cin7 is synced with MailChimp (see below).
Using the MailChimp Partner List

You can subscribe individual contacts to a list from the MailChimp Partner module. To do this:

  1. From the left navigation, select Integrations, then MailChimp Partner.
  2. Click List.
    The following list shows all contacts with email addresses in your CRM. Those that have the subscribed column checked are subscribed.
  3. Search for an individual contact and check the subscribed column to subscribe that contact to a list.
  4. The contact will be subscribed to the mailing list when Cin7 is synced with MailChimp (see below).

Pre-Existing Contacts

If you want to subscribe multiple contacts to a mailing list - perhaps because you are adding a new MailChimp account to a pre-existing Cin7 account - it may be easier to export contacts from Cin7 and import them into MailChimp.

Syncing Contacts


Once you have subscribed contacts, all that remains is to sync with MailChimp:

  1. From the left navigation, select Integrations, then MailChimp Partner.
  2. Click the Sync button.
    All contacts will be synced.
